Blessed Mother Mary's Role as Spiritual Administrator

As our direct line to the heart and Way of Christ, the divine mother intercedes on our behalf as individuals choosing the path of recovery from addiction.

As the Blessed Mother, Mary is something of an empowered – and empowering – spiritual executive administrator.

In her role as mother and spiritual administrator, Mary serves as a gatekeeper to Jesus’s time and energy in the narratives of his physical life and ministry.

In the narrative of our own spiritual recovery journey, Mary is the Mediatrix of grace and intercessor of prayers in the heavenly realms.

The spiritual fruit “To Jesus through Mary” (The Wedding at Cana, 2nd Luminous Mystery) reminds us that a key role of Mary is to bring messages to Jesus, to God.

“Do whatever he tells you,” Mary says to the staff working at the wedding. Jesus then turns water to wine, his first recorded public miracle.

And like an executive assistant in our physical world, the divine mother can advocate for our prayerful correspondence, seeing that our prayers are delivered to the divine executive.

That includes our prayers for guidance and support in addiction recovery.

“Do whatever he tells you,” Mary’s words echo to us in the present.

As our direct line to the heart and Way of Christ, the divine mother intercedes on our behalf as individuals choosing the path of recovery.
